GACDS will award an annual scholarship of $1000 to encourage study and careers in soil and water conservation related fields. Awards will be given to students majoring in, or intending to major in, a soil and water conservation related area. Acceptable areas of study will include agricultural education, agronomy, horticulture, plant pathology, and agricultural communications.
The student candidate may be a senior, junior, sophomore or freshman from Georgia at any accredited college, school, or university in the United States. Any priority consideration will be given to seniors first, then juniors, sophomores and freshmen. Students must maintain a GPA of at least 2.75 and be financially needy.
Qualified candidates may be nominated by their school, college, or university, or division or department therein, or a district supervisor. Nomination must be provided to GACDS, P.O. Box 111, Athens, GA 30603, on or before August 15th each year. There will be no discrimination on basis of race, sex, or religion.
The Executive Committee will determine the recipients of scholarships. Disbursements will be made in two payments of $500.00 paid to the student by the Secretary-Treasurer upon receipt of proof of satisfactory completion of each of two semesters of full-time academic work during one academic year.
