2009 "Dig It!  The Secrets of Soil" Poster Contest

The Georgia Association of Conservation District Supervisors (GACDS) 2009 Poster Contest theme is “Dig It!  The Secrets of Soil”.  The contest is open to kindergarten through twelfth grade public, private, or home school students.  The winners of local Soil and Water Conservation District poster contests advance to the state competition and the state winner in each category will compete in the national contest. 

To find out if your local Soil and Water Conservation District is sponsoring a poster contest, go to the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission's website.  Locate your county on the map, click on your region to get the contact information for your local district’s Regional Representative, and contact him for the contest details for your area.

The categories and prizes for state contest entries are:

K-1 First place $50 Second place $30
2-3 First place $50 Second place $30
4-6 First place $50 Second place $30
4-6 Special category:  Painted with soil First place $50
7-9 First place $50 Second place $30
10-12 First place $50 Second place $30
10-12 Special category:  Computer designed First place $50
