2010 Annual Meeting
The Classic Center in Athens was the site of the 2010 GACDS Annual Meeting January 22nd-24th. We celebrated the successes of the soil and water conservation district supervisors by inducting members into the GACDS Hall of Fame and recognizing supervisors who have served for 45, 50, and 70 years. On Friday, in-depth breakout sessions studied community forestry and local work groups. Leonard Jordan, NRCS Regional Conservationist - East, stressed the importance of a strong partnership in his keynote address during the general session on Saturday. Supervisors provided local perspectives in the roundtable on water issues, followed by breakouts on energy and marketing.
Saturday's conservation tour in Oconee County included the Agricultural Research Service J. Phil Campbell, Sr. Natural Resource Conservation Center and the site of the future GACDS Conservation Education Center. The tour ended at the Oconee County Civic Center with an auction to benefit the education center.
